The Brener vs. Ribovics Lightweight matchup has the capacity of becoming the fight of the night. Both fighters live and die in the standup, so expect to see a lot of punches being thrown in this one. An early stoppage is definitely something that we could see here, but it mainly depends on how the two fighters decide to start.
Elves Brener is currently on a two-fight losing streak and might be fighting for his career in this one. After going 3-0 in his start in the UFC, racking up two KO/TKOs, Brener lost two of his next fights. A decision loss to Myktybek Orolbai might have been seen as something unfortunate for him, but he a TKO loss to Joel Alvarez should send Brner in desperation mode.
Meanwhile, Estaban Ribovics was flying high after stringing three wins in a row, including a knockout of Terrance McKinney. He then put in a massive display in winning the fight of the night against Daniel Zellhuber at UFC 306, eventually taking the win via decision. However, his hypetrain was stopped by Nasrat Haqparast, who was able to neutralise his attacks and earn a decision win.
Both fighters want to win here and both are as tough as nails. This is going to be a standup affair through and through, so don’t even for a second think that things will end up on the ground. Ribovics comes in as an obvious favourite, and I do agree with that. If he finds his range early in the fight and starts hitting Brener, he might not be able to find an answer for Ribovic’s straight punches.
I see this one definitely going on favour of El Gringo, and he might even be able to do it via knockout, setting himself up for a bigger fight in the future.
